Why should people pay attention to the no food on metro rule? There is noone holding people accountable. This photo was taken yesterday on the way to Columbia Heights.
The best part of this was a Metro Security Guard was in our car. He walked right past this guy and then stood at the door waiting to get off.

I have food on the Metro all the time.
Admittedly, I’m on my way from Giant, it’s in my blue-reuseable bags, and I’m never munching on it.
I agree: flouting the rules encourages greater rule flouting. I hate being on the red line coming into the city when a whole gaggle of kids come on: they’re loud, noisy, and sometimes they open the doors and go between the train cars. What a bunch of fucking nuts! Was I ever that crazy when I was in school? I’m getting so old.

To that we can add:
- People who listen to MP3 phones without headphones.
- People who refuse to move for pregnant women & the infirm.

With the amount of people who do eat and drink on the trains, Metro could actually make some decent money from fines if they would only enforce.

years ago they arrested a young woman for eating french fries. i’m glad they don’t enforce the rules. as long as you don’t litter or make a mess, who’s it hurting?
